Moscrop volleyball in good hands

Volunteer coach is calling it a career at Moscrop after 10 years at the Burnaby school

The Moscrop Panthers will host this season’s BurWest senior girls’ volleyball playoffs next week in what will be the final home game of their high school careers for a majority of the team.

The Panthers have succeeded at every level, winning district banners since stepping onto the court as Grade 8 bantams under volunteer coach Kim Or.

Or, and inner-city instructor at Britannia Secondary in Vancouver, volunteer coached at the West Burnaby school a decade ago to help his two sons Zachary and Jordan in their volleyball careers.

Now, in what he says is his ‘Swan song’, Or will be leaving Moscrop volleyball in good hands.

“It has been good. A culture is growing in Moscrop,” Or said. “It’s a nice time to walk away and it’s in good hands now.

Or points out that a majority of the senior girls’ team actively coach and help out timekeeping and do other chores at Moscrop to ensure all students have the kind of experience they enjoyed for the past five seasons.

“It’s good,” said Or. “It’s the Moscrop family, the Moscrop way.”

The district playoffs will kick off on Monday, Nov. 3.
