Burnaby North capped off the high school girls' rugby league season with a 41 - 0 loss to Carson Grham in the Vancouver championship game last week. North was able to hold the defending provincial champions to only three tries in the first half, but were unable to maintain the pressure in the second half.
"We lost four starters during the first half, which had an impact," said North coach Ian Trevor. "That being said, the last time we played Carson in April they put up over 50 points on us. So I'm happy with the improvement. We've qualified for the provincials at UBC at the end of May, so we've had a very successful season. Now we start to prepare for the provincials.
"The players are excited to be going, and they have a lot to be proud of for what they have accomplished so far. I'm really looking forward to seeing the program continue to grow."
North's first opponent at the provincials will be No. 1-ranked Cowichan on May 23rd at UBC's Wolfson fields at 1:30pm.
