Burnaby Central placed 14 of its wrestlers among the top three at the Alberni Invitational meet on Saturday.
Heavyweight Parm Dhesi and younger brother Amar won their respective juvenile weight classes at 110 and 130 kilograms.
Brandon Morris was also a winner, coming back to pin his opponent in the final of the 90kg class.
Saheel Khan placed second at 100kg, while Cedric Bihis was third at 57kg.
Central's lone cadet-aged wrestler, Saekwon Brown, placed second at 48kg.
The results by his veteran wrestlers delighted Central head coach Gianni Buono, who has led the Wildcat team to seven high school championship banners and two runner-up finishes in the past dozen years.
What is even more encouraging is the parity of this season's wrestling teams, he said.
"I think at the B.C.s, a big number isn't going to win it," Buono said. "I think 60 or 70 points will win it. A lot of teams will have to post a top-five result, depending how strong the tournament is. It's going to be interesting."
Buono's top wrestlers could give him close to that point total if every member accomplishes their best, but every top-six point will count, he added.
"If we get five medallists and two champions, it might be enough. It will be close. We could be in the top five," Buono said.
The Wildcats may get a helping hand from a fine crop of up and coming eighth graders.
Alec Shaw, a second-place fin-isher in the school age division at Alberni, is one of those Central newcomers who could make top six at the provincials, said Buono.
"He (Shaw) was dynamite. With a draw in a good tournament, you never know," Buono said. "You just need to get lucky and we could get lucky."
Other top Grade 8 placers at Alberni included Evan Enriquez, Billy Trengrove, Alex Babinski, Mackenzie Burns and Dillon Cusker.
Tatiana Ivens placed second in the cadet girls' 70kg division. Jessica Sanchez and Nasiba Froogh finished second and third, respectively, in school girl action.
Chelsea Coombs of Burnaby North also came second in the girls' division at 54kg at the Alberni Invite.
Central wrestlers will compete at the Lower Fraser Valley championships in Coquitlam this Friday.
The top five placing wrestlers at each weight class will qualify for the upcoming provincial championships in Penticton on Feb. 24 and 25.
