SDSS senior boys drop rugby home opener

Next home game is April 18

The South Delta Secondary senior boy’s rugby team kicked-off the regular season on April 4 with a spirited 29-19 loss against Surrey rivals Elgin Park Secondary.

The Sun Devils opened the scoring with a multi-phase drive resulting in a try by flanker Jack Dosenburg.

Second row Jacob Stemerdink and team captain Jacob Blackwood would also go on to score tries, with fullback Jordan Brown converting two of three kicks.

Coach Jack Stokes was proud of the team's strong start, noting the team controlled the pace of play and moved the ball well for much of the game.

Keys to success include reducing penalties and defensive over commitment, which allowed Elgin to take over the game.

The boys look to tighten their play and bounce back to form in their next action April 11 away against Earl Marriott, then April 18 at home against Lord Tweedsmuir.
