Simon Fraser University's Emma Chadsey set a new meet record this weekend, while the university played host to the Emilie Mondor track and field invitational on April 13.

Chadsey, originally from Pemberton, ran the women's 5,000-metre in less than 20 minutes with a time of 19: 33.80.

She wasn't the only one to set a new meet record. Clan alumnus and Newfoundland-native Ryan Brockerville ran the men's 2,000-metre steeplechase in 6: 01.97.

On top of the two record-breakers, the Clan's track and field team came out on top in the women's 800-metre race with first, second and third, all going to the home team. Lindsey Butterworth won the race with a time of 2: 12.46, meeting the qualifying time for the NCAA provisional and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference automatic qualifier.

Burnaby's Abbey Vogt also set Great Northwest qualifying marks for Simon Fraser. The 21-year-old came seventh in the 800metre run with a time of 2: 16.97.

Douglas College's Travis Fraser ran the men's 5,000metre race in 16: 11.25 but it wasn't fast enough to beat the previous record, set last year by Tim Delacourt.
