Simon Fraser University's softball team managed to bounce back in the final game of a second double header this weekend, defeating the Saint Martin's Saints 2-0 Sunday afternoon.
The win comes after a disappointing set of games Saturday against the Western Oregon Wolves.
The Wolves beat the clan 4-0 in the double header opener, Saturday afternoon at Beedie Field.
For much of the second game Saturday, the Wolves commanded a strong lead at 8-0, but then the Clan's Alex Baylak batted in a fellow teammate and a comeback began.
Rachel Procter followed Baylak's hit with a walk and then two doubles and another single upped the score to 8-5, heading into the sixth inning.
The Clan were able to put one more run on the board, but it wasn't enough to stop the Wolves, who won the game 10-6 in the end.
In their final home games of the season Sunday, the Clan faced the Great Northwest Athletic Conference leaders the Saint Martin's Saints in a double header.
The first game went to the Saints after the Clan lost a 4-2 lead in the sixth inning, eventually falling 8-4.
By the second game, the Clan was back with a vengeance, holding the Saints at bay for all seven innings.
Pitcher Kelsie Hawkins allowed only three hits and had four strike outs during the game to lead the team to a 2-0 victory over the top team in the conference.
The win moves the Clan to second place in the Northwest conference with a 12-7 record.
There are only five games left in the season for the Simon Fraser women.
This Thursday they will face Western Washington in another double header before traveling to Montana to play the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets on Saturday.
