The Simon Fraser University hockey club will play host to a four-school collegiate hockey showcase in Burnaby during the Christmas break.

SFU and the University of British Columbia will both play exhibition games against American teams from Arizona State University and Oklahoma University in the first annual Great Northwest Showcase at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre on Dec. 28 and 29.

Game times will be at 4 and 7: 15 p.m., with SFU playing in the late game on both dates.

"This has the potential to be a great hockey and educational event in our own back yard, showcasing what college hockey is all about," said SFU head coach Mark Coletta in a club press release. "Our players and staff are all very excited to see how we stack up."

The showcase will run in conjunction with the 50th annual Burnaby Minor AAA bantam hockey Christmas tournament, which runs from Dec. 27 to 31.
