The Simon Fraser University men's golf team finished in a tie for runner-up at the California Baptist Invitational on Tuesday.
The Clan placed just three strokes back of tournament champion Western Washington University.
SFU finished with a team score of 875, tied with Colorado Christian University, while four of the Clan's five golfers finished in the top 30 of the 96-player field.
Finishing in a tie for 10th was senior Mike Belle of Burnaby, who shot a 75 in the third round to go along with opening day rounds of 71 and 70 for a tournament total of 216.
John Mlikotic finished two shots behind Belle at 218 in a tie for 14th place, carding a 75 in the third and final round. He also had scores of 70 and 73 on day one.
Rounding out the Clan's top four were Bret Thompson and St. Thomas More grad Kevin Vigna.
Thompson, who fired a five-under-par 67 to top the opening leader board at the tourney, finished with rounds of 77 and 78 to place in a share of 24th place.
Vigna finished one shot behind his teammate with a 223 in a tie for 29th with scores of 78, 72 and 73.
Rounding out the Clan squad was Craig Titterington, who, playing in his first collegiate tournament, shot 74, 77 and 83 for a three-round score of 234.
The individual tournament title was won by Western New Mexico's David Metz who, golfing as an independent, shot 207 over three rounds.
SFU will play their final tournament before the conference championship on April 14 and 15 at the Cal State Stanislaus Invitational in Turlock, California.
