The Simon Fraser University men's golf team finished in second place at the Daniel Rose Invitational at the University of Hawaii Hilo.
The Clan's scored a 902 total leaving them behind only the host, University of Hawaii Hilo, who finished with an 862 team total.
Freshman Trevor Garafano was the Clan's leading performer, finishing in a tie for third place with a three-over-par 219 total. Garafano carded rounds of 74-71-74.
in the third round, Bret Thomson dropped from his third-place position but still managed to place in the top-10 overall. The freshman shot rounds of 71-74-79 over the two-day competition for an eight-over total of 224, leaving him in tenth place.
John Mlikotic followed in 13th position as he jumped one place in the final round to finish with at 226.
Lucas Gatto of Burnaby finished in a tie for 29th place, carding rounds of 77-79-78 for a total of 234, while Michael Belle of Burnaby dropped to 34th overall. The captain's rounds of 79-78-80 would leave him with at 21-over par after three rounds.
The tournament was won by Hawaii golfer Corey Kozuma, who shot 70 in all three rounds to finish at six-under-par.
The tournament concluded the men's fall schedule.
Earlier, Belle was named the Red Lion athlete of the week in men's golf in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Belle finished second in the University of Victoria Vikes Shootout with a 54-hole total of 217 to earn the award last Monday.
Playing in extremely wet conditions, Belle fired a pair of 74's in the first and second round. In the third and final round on Tuesday, Belle carded a two-under-par 69.
The St. Thomas More graduate is currently fifth in the conference with a scoring average of 72.8, less than a stroke behind the co-leaders Marcus Drange and Gage Huft of Montana State University-Billings, who are averaging 72 strokes per round.
Nicky Jordan was also named a Red Lion athlete of the week.
Jordan earned the award following a seventh-place finish at the University of Victoria Vikes Shootout last week.
Jordan carded an opening round 83 at the Cordova Bay Golf Club before improving with a second-round total of 76, helping the Clan earn a fourth-place finish in the event.
Through three tournaments this season, Jordan is 10th in the conference in scoring average (82.5).
The Vikes Shootout was the final tournament of the fall season for the Clan women. The collegiate spring schedule kicks off in February.
