Incoming Simon Fraser University recruit Rachel Fradgley was invited to the junior women’s national basketball team tryouts.
Canada Basketball released the list of 15 athletes who will vie for positions on the Canadian team, which began on July 18 at Durham College in Oshawa, Ont.
The team will compete in the FIBA Americas under-18 championship for women in Colorado Springs, Colorado from Aug. 6 to 10.
Fradgley, a 6-2 forward from London, Ont. signed with the Clan during the NCAA’s early signing period and will join the program in the fall.
Last season, Fragdley led her high school team to a bronze medal at the Ontario high school AAA girl's basketball championships in November and was honoured with the Fran Wigston Award as the region’s top girls’ basketball player.
The junior women’s national team tryouts conclude on July 31.
Fradgley will be vying for a spot on Team Canada for the first time before joining an SFU program that is coming off their second trip to the NCAA Tournament in as many years.
