Simon Fraser University men's head soccer coach Alan Koch was named the Far West region coach of the year on Dec. 5.

It was the second consecutive year Koch has received the regional honour. Koch was also earlier chosen the Great Northwest Athletic Conference coach of the year.

Koch led the Clan to an overall 19-2-1 record this season, including the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Division II final four, becoming the first Canadian school to do so.

In three seasons since SFU joined the NCAA, Koch has coached his teams to a combined record of 54-4-2.

Volleyball coach moving on

SFU volleyball head coach Lisa Sulatycki resigned after 16 years in charge of the women's program.

"It's time for a change," said Sulatycki in a Clan press release. "It was a wonderful opportunity to have been part of Simon Fraser University and the SFU Athletics department for so long. I will miss Clan Athletics and especially the volleyball student athletes.

"It has been an honour to coach so many incredible young women these past 16 years."
