Simon Fraser University swimmers won 17 of 28 races against Division I Seattle University but came just shy in points, dropping the dual 131-125.
Clan teams opened with wins in the men's and women's 200-yard medley relays.
Grace Ni, Katie McEvoy, Alex Schofield and Nicole Cossey won the women's race in a time of 1:46.74, while Hans Heyer, Julian Monks, Ciaran McDonnell and Justin Kiedrzyn of New Westminster won in a time of 1:33.41.
Meghan Quon then notched the Clan's first win of the day in an individual race, taking the 1,650-yds. freestyle event in a time 17:36.69.
Schofield then grabbed her first individual win of the day, placing first in the 200-yds. free in 1:56.14, while Ni won the 100-yds. backstroke in a time of 58.58 seconds.
Heyer got the men their first individual win of the day, taking the 100-yds. back in a time of 50.22 seconds, followed by a win for Monks in the 100-yds. breaststroke in a time of 57.29 seconds.
Freshman Lauren Swistak won the 200-yds. butterfly with a time of 2:04.23, while McDonnell took the men's fly in a time of 1:52.78.
Cossey earned her first individual win in the 50-yds. free in a time of 24.19 seconds, and immediately followed that up with her second win of the day, winning the 100-yds. free in 52.50 seconds.
Heyer then won another race for the Clan men, taking first place in the 100-yds. free in a time of 46.42 seconds.
Monks also won the 200-yds. breast in a time of 2:05.32, while also taking the Clan’s last individual race of the day in the 200-yds. individual medley. Clan freshman Lucas Greenough finished second in the event.
The Clan also swept the 100-yds. fly event with Schofield taking the race on the women's side in a time of 56.84 and McDonnell taking the win on the men's side in a time of 51.30.
The Clan women's 200-yds. free relay team of Schofield, Swistak, Carmen Nam and Cossey earned SFU's final race win of the competition.
The SFU swim teams will be back in action from Feb. 12 to 15 at the Pacific Coast Swimming Conference Championship in La Mirada, Calfornia.
