The second-place Clan knocked off rivals Fairbanks and Anchorage at home to remain just ahead of a tightly packed trio of competing schools in the competitive Great Northwest conference.
The Clan opened with a 60-52 win over Alaska Anchorage last Thursday. They then sent winless Alaksa Fairbanks packing with a solid 71-55 victory on Saturday.
Erin Chambers started things off for SFU, netting 20 points, including six-for-six from the foul line in the win over Anchorage. Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe hauled down a game-high 17 rebounds to retain her third-place standing in NCAA Division II rebounding per game.
SFU trailed 30-28 at halftime after a late 20-9 Anchorage run. But the home Clan got back at it in the second half that saw the lead change hands nine times before SFU took control.
With less than two minutes left in the game, Chambers knocked down a pair of free throws, the first of eight straight the Clan would hit from the charity stripe to earn the win.
On Saturday, Raincock-Ekunwe tallied the 53rd double-double of her varsity career, posting a game-high 26 points while adding 16 boards.
"We wanted to workd on improving our offensive flow," said the 6-2 Clan senior in a press release. "We had no offence going for us in our last game. We focused on setting screens and moving the ball well tonight."
SFU outscored Fairbanks 38-28 in the paint and the Clan bench contributed 19 points to the visitors' deuce.
SFU led 34-25 at the interval, but built the lead up to as much as 20 points in the second half.
The win improved SFU's conference record to 9-2.
The Clan will play conference leader and No. 5-ranked University of Western Washington this Saturday at the West Gym. Game time is 7 p.m.
Last month, SFU lost a narrow two-point decision to Western Washington in Bellingham.
