Burnaby's Patrick Switzer lost top spot in the International Gravity Skateboard Association men's downhill standings following a fog-shortened World Cup race in France earlier this month.
Switzer placed runner-up to Brazil's Douglas Silva in a qualifying race after dense fog limited visibility and cancelled the final elimination races at the Peyragudes Deluxe Cup on Aug. 11.
The qualifying heat was used to determine the final World Cup placements after the cancellation of the remaining races.
With the win, Silva edged ahead of Switzer, who slipped to second place in the World Cup series aggregate points.
In earlier World Cup races in Europe, Switzer, the reigning World Cup champion, placed fifth at the Padova Grand Prix in Italy on Aug. 5 and last month again finished fifth overall at the Kozakov Challenge in the Czech Republic.
Switzer also picked up $3,000 for his first-place finish at the Maryhill Festival of Speed in Goldendale, Washington on July 1.
Later this month, the BCIT grad will look to regain top spot in the downhill standings at the IGSA world championships, which will be held in Calgary Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.
