Former St. Thomas More Knight Jon Cornish scored a touchdown for the Calgary Stampeders in a 23-21 loss to the Toronto Argonauts on Friday.

Cornish gave Calgary its only lead of the game in the fourth quarter, capping a five-play, 50-yard drive with a three-yard touchdown run that put the Stamps temporarily ahead, 21-17.

At Harry Jerome

Simon Fraser University middle distance runners Jessica Smith and Helen Crofts placed second and sixth, respectively, in the women's national 800-metre at the Harry Jerome Track Classic at Swangard Stadium on Canada Day. Smith's time of 2:01.54 was a fraction behind race winner Lemlem Ogbasilassie of Canada.

SFU's Brianna Kane came third in the women's Olympic development 800m.

Burnaby Central grad Curtis Moss finished fifth with a throw of more than 70 metres in the men's invitational javelin.

St. Thomas More grad Nigel Hole placed eighth in the 1,500m men's Olympic development race, clocking a 3:52.03 time.
