As hot as the Grandview Steelers were for most of October, the past week has seen those fortunes cooled a bit.
While still clinging to a share of second place in the Tom Shaw Conference, the junior B hockey league squad aims to keep the current blot on their record to a short term.
The Steelers suffered their third loss in the past four games on Wednesday, falling 6-4 to the Aldergrove Kodiaks.
What was a 2-0 and 3-1 lead became a hole after the home team peeled off three unanswered goals in the middle period.
Grandview's Anthony Benevoli scored six minutes into the third to make it a one-goal deficit, but the Kodiaks iced it with a goal five minutes later.
Also scoring for the Burnaby-based Steelers were Ryan Taylor-Kuipers, Joshua Gibbons and Jarod Yau.
On Sunday, the team ended a two-game winless skid with a 5-1 victory over Langley, as five different players recorded the goals in a one-sided affair.
Jack Hamilton, Michael Martino, Ryan Suzukovich, Carson Zimmerman and Benevoli tallied, while Cale Dolan stopped 14 shots.
Earlier, they launched November with a hard-luck 4-3 overtime loss to Abbotsford, with the PIlots' Hunter Brown cashing in the winning goal 2:46 into the second overtime period.
Grandview outshot Abbotsford 43-28, but went a cold 0-for-8 on the powerplay.
Racking up goals for the Steelers were Vincent Timperio, Tomislav Zlomislic and Taylor-Kuipers.
In October, the team ran up a 7-1-1 record, with the lone setback coming Oct. 30 in a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Mission.
The Steelers return home Sunday to host the Port Moody Panthers, 7:15 p.m. at the Burnaby Winter Club.
