The Grandview Steelers pushed their unbeaten streak to seven with a pair of shutout victories in Pacific Junior B Hockey League action.
Veteran netminder Cale Dolan stopped all 25 shots on Sunday to backstop the Steelers to a 3-0 victory over the Mission City Outlaws at the Burnaby Winter Club.
After a scoreless first period, the home team opened the scoring midway through the second period on Tomislav Zlomislic's powerplay goal. Michael Martino cashed in his sixth of the season five minutes into the third period to make it 2-0. After the team successfully killed off a two-man disadvantage over 1:28 later in the frame, Jameson Crawford hit the empty net to complete the offence.
It was Dolan's league-leading fourth shutout of the season, and improved his goals-against average to 1.86.
Earlier in the week, teammate Emmet Larson picked up his first shutout of the year in a 6-0 blanking of the Surrey Knights.
The first-year Steeler blocked all 30 shots, as Grandview grabbed control of the game with a three-goal outburst in the second period.
Jack Hamilton netted his sixth of the season 7:05 into the game with what proved to be the game winner. Thirty-five seconds into the middle frame, Dryden Valade scored, and was followed by Ryan Taylor-Kuipers and Jarod Yau. Jonathan Schlender and Max Fookes rounded out the offence. Picking up three assists was Ethan Reilly.
Deserving a star for his effort, Surrey's netminder Naveen Kainth kicked out 52 shots on a busy day.
Grandview, which sits tied with Richmond for second place in the Tom Shaw Conference, visits Port Moody on Saturday, before returning Sunday to host the Harold Brittain Conference-leading Ridge Meadows Flames, 7:15 p.m. at BWC.
