Nothing like having your backs to the wall for some inspiration.
The Grandview Steelers faced elimination on Thursday and pushed back, handing the North Vancouver Wolf Pack their first loss since Feb. 15 with a sharp 4-1 decision at the North Shore's Harry Jerome Rec Centre.
As with most of their recent wins, the Steelers got a superb performance from veteran netminder Cale Dolan, who turned aside 40 shots to lead the charge.
The visitors struck first, grabbing the lead 3:40 into the first period on Mateo Coltellaro's goal, converting a Jameson Crawford setup. Grandview made it 2-0 when Jarod Yau sniped a powerplay goal at 16:45 of the first.
Tomislav Zlomislic deposited a huge marker less than six minutes into the middle frame, cashing in a shorthanded opportunity to up the Steelers' lead to 3-0, and was followed 10 minutes later when Coltellaro cashed in his second of the night -- and fifth over the past two games.
North Van finally put one past Dolan in the seven-minute mark of the third by Jacob Fournier.
Grandview was out-shot 41-27 on the night.
Of their five wins in the playoffs -- including a 4-1 series victory over Richmond in the quarterfinals -- four of the wins have come away from home.
The Burnaby-based squad is still against it with the regular season champion Wolf Pack holding a 3-1 series lead, with Game 5 going Saturday, 7 p.m. in North Vancouver.
