Burnaby Mountain Secondary named two swimmers as its athletes of the month following the school's best-ever showing at the B.C. high school swim championships in Richmond in November.
Robyn Lee, the first back-to-back winner of the award, picked up her second straight athlete of the month nod following a pair of gold medals, including a new provincial record of 1:45.35 with Mountain in the mixed 200-metre freestyle.
Lee won an individual gold in the open girls' 50m free. She also placed fourth in the 100m free and seventh in the mixed 200m medley relay.
Cristian Cristurean earned the boys' athlete of the month.
Cristurean was a member of Mountain's record-setting relay team. He also placed runner-up in the boys' 100m free, helping lead the Mountain boys' team to third place and to fourth overall in the team appregate.
Swim coach Cory Beatt, who with the Simon Fraser Aquatics club and has mentored Mountain's B team coach for the past two years, was named coach of the month.
