Two local women tennis players were knocked out of the women's singles qualifying at the Odlum Brown Vancouver Open championships at the Hollyburn Country Club in West Vancouver.
Khristina Blajkevitch of New Westminster made it to the second round of qualifying before falling straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to No. 8 seed Emily Webley-Smith of Great Britain on Monday. Blajkevitch, who commited to the University of Kentucky on scholarship, opened with a 6-2, 6-2 win over fellow Canadian Nina Erdevicki on Sunday.
Burnaby's Katerina Boiko was knocked out in the first round 6-3, 6-2 by No. 5 seed Jade Windley of Great Britain.
