Burnaby javelin thrower Curtis Moss won an International Amateur Athletics Federation Grand Prix track-and-field event in Ponce, Puerto Rico last weekend.

Moss beat an international field that included two Americans and a Columbian athlete, all three who have thrown over 80 metres in their careers.

Moss, who needs to reach the Canadian standard of 79.50m to qualify for the Olympic Games in London, won the event with a throw of 75.32m.

On Wednesday, Moss left for Germany where he will take part at the Halle Werfetage throws meet in pursuit of making Olympic standard.

While in Europe, Moss will also compete in meets in Dessau and Rehlingen.
