The finest University rowers in Western Canada take to the water at Burnaby Lake on Sunday, Oct. 20, in the annual Western Canadian University Rowing Championships.
Now in its sixth year, the event acts as a regional championship leading to the Canadian University Rowing Championships Nov. 2-3 in Montreal.
The Burnaby event consists of 20 events for men and women, light and heavyweight rowers, in five boat classes, eights, coxed fours, pairs, doubles, and singles.
Entries are expected to come from host University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, Simon Fraser University, University of Fraser Valley, University of Alberta, University of Calgary, Camosun and Lakewood.
Last year’s overall men’s point champion was UVic, while UBC captured the women’s title.
The first race goes at 9 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m.
