Young Burnaby golfer earns exemption at world event

Three Burnaby youngsters score in the top 10 at Junior World golf championships in San Diego

B.C. Junior Linkster Tour golfer Eason Chen of Burnaby finished in third place at the Junior World Championships in San Diego last week.

With the third-place finish in the five-and-six-year-old boys’ division, Eason earned an exemption to next year tournament.

Eamon Chen of Burnaby just missed one of the five exemptions with a six-place finish.

Jay Xu of Burnaby placed 10th in the 7/9 boys’ age group, while Malaina Sidhu of Burnaby finished in 66th place in the 9/10 girls’ division at the California competition.

More than, 1,000 junior boys and girls aged five to 17 took part in San Diego.

Next up on the tour, is the Little Masters golf championships, a 72-hole event for kids up to 18 from Aug. 10 to 13.
