WINNIPEG — Police in Manitoba have seized 30 firearms, along with cocaine and opioids, after executing search warrants in Winnipeg and an area north of the city.
Winnipeg police, working with the RCMP, have charged five people with a total of 53 offences related to drug and gun trafficking, and say one of the accused is a leader in a street gang.
The firearms seized include handguns, rifles, and shotguns, and police say some had been altered from semi-automatic to fully automatic.
Police say most of the guns had been smuggled in from the United States while others had been reported stolen.
The accused are from Winnipeg, Stonewall, and the Rural Municipality of Rockwood.
