Johnston has goal, two assists to lead Spitfires to 5-1 win over Sting

Wyatt Johnston had a goal and two assists as the Windsor Spitfires defeated the Sarnia Sting 5-1 in OHL action Thursday night. Matthew Maggio scored twice for the Spitfires (39-16-3-3).

Matthew Maggio scored twice for the Spitfires (39-16-3-3). Will Cuylle and Michael Renwick had the other goals while Mathias Onuska stopped 22 shots.

Elsewhere, it was: Hamilton Bulldogs 3, Oshawa Generals 2; North Bay Battalion 4, Niagara IceDogs 1; Peterborough Petes 6, Kingston Frontenacs 4; and Barrie Colts 2, Sudbury Wolves 1. 

At Windsor, Ont., Nolan Burke had the lone goal for Sarnia (25-30-4-1).


Bulldogs 3, Generals 2

At Hamilton, Mason McTavish's power-play goal at 15:01 of the third proved to be the winner for the Bulldogs (44-12-3-2), who broke the club record for most regular-season wins. Nathan Staios and Jan Mysak had the other goals. Ryan Stepien and Matthew Buckley scored for Oshawa (27-29-1-5).


Battalon 4, IceDogs 1

At North Bay, Ont., Brandon Coe had a goal and two assist to lead the Battalion (38-18-3-3). Kyle Jackson, Dalyn Wakely and Matvey Petrov also scored. Danil Gushchin had the lone goal for Niagara (20-37-3-1).


Petes 6, Frontenacs 4

At Peterborough, Joe Carrol scored three times for the Petes (25-32-5-0). Nick Lardis, J.R. Avon and Emmett Sproule had the other goals. Martin Chromiak had two goals for Kingston (37-20-3-0) while Alec Belanger and Maddox Callens registered the others.


Colts 2, Wolves 1

At Barrie, Ont., Tyson Foerster and Beau Jelsma scored first period goals for the Colts (32-21-5-1). Landon McCallum replied for Sudbury (22-33-3-3) as goaltender Mitchell Weeks stopped 39 shots.
