The remains discovered in a burned out vehicle in a Burnaby tow yard Monday have been identified as a 23-year-old Coquitlam man reported missing last Friday.
Randy Joseph Chan was last seen on July 21, according to a Coquitlam RCMP press release on Monday.
Police said Chan had “a significant police history,” and they were “very concerned” for his safety.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has now confirmed it was Chan’s body that was discovered by an ICBC investigator in a burned out SUV at Mundie’s Towing in Burnaby Monday.
“IHIT investigators are pushing ahead with their investigation and invite anyone who may have information in the hours leading up to Mr. Chan’s disappearance to call IHIT,” Const. Harrison Mohr said in a news release.
Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or firstname.lastname@example.org.
