Body found in Burnaby tow yard was missing Coquitlam man

The remains discovered in a burned out vehicle in a Burnaby tow yard Monday have been identified as a 23-year-old Coquitlam man reported missing last Friday.

The body of Randy Joseph Chan was discovered in a burned out SUV in Burnaby Monday after he was reported missing in Coquitlam last Friday.

The remains discovered in a burned out vehicle in a Burnaby tow yard Monday have been identified as a 23-year-old Coquitlam man reported missing last Friday.

Randy Joseph Chan was last seen on July 21, according to a Coquitlam RCMP press release on Monday.

Police said Chan had “a significant police history,” and they were “very concerned” for his  safety.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has now confirmed it was Chan’s body that was discovered by an ICBC investigator in a burned out SUV at Mundie’s Towing in Burnaby Monday.

“IHIT investigators are pushing ahead with their investigation and invite anyone who may have information in the hours leading up to Mr. Chan’s disappearance to call IHIT,” Const. Harrison Mohr said in a news release.
