Burnaby city council is expected to continue its pandemic schedule of meetings until the end of the year.

Council is set to vote Monday evening on a matter that would have meetings continue to be held at 5 p.m. – earlier than the usual 6 p.m. – with electronic participation.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, councillors had originally approved in late May the electronic participation, which was newly approved by the provincial government at the time. That was set to begin in June and run through July.

Now, a staff report is recommending council continue the new schedule and electronic participation through to Dec. 31 this year.

The measure also includes livestreaming public hearings and committee meetings, all of which will also have been rescheduled to 5 p.m.
