It’s never been more important to support local businesses and to #BuyLocalBuyBurnaby.

That’s the message coming from the Burnaby Board of Trade, the Burnaby Heights Merchants Association, and the Burnaby North Road Business Improvement Association in a city-wide ad campaign supported by the Burnaby NOW.
Many businesses across our community are still open, can still serve customers, and are need of support as sales and customers dry up.  BC's public health officer allows businesses to stay open provided they follow physical distancing orders, and many local businesses are offering adjusted hours, online stores, delivery services, and health-compliant operations to be able to still serve their customers.

To help limit the impacts of COVID-19 on our economy, the three business groups are compiling a list of local businesses that are still open and how you can support them. The list is online at BBOT.ca/BuyLocalBuyBurnaby, and new businesses are welcome to sign up to join the list and share how they are still safely open for business.
To support the local business database, a series of ads featuring the #BuyLocalBuyBurnaby slogan are appearing in the pages of the Burnaby Now, in digital website ads, and across various social media channels.
The campaign is suggesting four easy ways to support local businesses during this challenging time:

Buy a Gift Card -Gift cards provide cash flow now, when businesses need it the most. Plus, it lets them know that you'll be back in the future.

Keep Your Subscription- Cancelling a subscription will put businesses in a bind. Keep your subscription current despite any temporary closures.
Order Take-Out, Delivery, or Rental - Many businesses are offering take-out, delivery, or rental models so you can still enjoy their services and products.
Post on Social Media – Today, businesses often live or die online. Share your love for a business online or post a glowing review to help others find them.
