East Burnaby is finally getting a big new grocery store

When Safeway closed its Royal Oak-area store on Kingsway about two years ago, it left the southeast side of Burnaby will few options when it came to a full-service grocery supermarket.

When Safeway closed its Royal Oak-area store on Kingsway about two years ago, it left the southeast side of Burnaby will few options when it came to a full-service grocery supermarket.

The Edmonds area has Save-on Foods, and a plethora of small specialty grocery markets which offer a cornucopia of amazing foods from around the world.

There’s also the Langley Farm Market just down the street from where Edmonds Street meets Kingsway.

It’s at that intersection where the Edmonds neighbourhood will be getting a new full-service supermarket in the form of Buy-Low Foods.

The Kings Crossing housing development will house the Buy-Low Foods store, which is set to open on Aug. 26. Kings Crossing is a three-tower residential housing development that will feature a variety of retail shops.

Edmonds is one of the City of Burnaby’s designated city centres, and features a library, community centre and SkyTrain station.

Offering Edmonds residents more shopping options means being able to walk to get your groceries. Buy-Low Foods is known for its lower prices on many items.
