The Liberals have chosen their candidate to run in Burnaby South for the next federal election.

Burnaby resident Adam Pankratz, an employee at Coast Capital Savings, secured the nomination on Dec. 18.

"I look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate to the people of Burnaby South that I am the right voice for our community in Ottawa," Pankratz said in a media release. "I am looking forward to hearing about the opportunities and challenges that people in the community are facing and how I can help build a stronger economy, community, and environment."

Pankratz studied linguistics in Europe and speaks four languages: French, Spanish, German and English. He also has a master's of business administration from UBC's Sauder School of Business.

Pankratz lives in the Burnaby South riding. He will be running against Kennedy Stewart, the New Democrat MP who currently holds the Burnaby-Douglas riding. The Conservatives have yet to pick their candidate.

The next federal election is scheduled for Oct. 19, 2015.
