There will be new lane closures on Lougheed Highway in Burnaby, as crews return to finish work on FortisBC’s new line ahead of it going into operation.
Lane closures near the intersection of Holdom Avenue will start as early as next week, while work near Rosser Street is expected to start later this month. At least one eastbound and one westbound lane and all side streets will be kept open during this work, which is expected to take about two weeks to complete.

Work installing new valves, testing the new line and connecting to the existing system is ongoing in Burnaby. This means some lane closures will continue through October to give crews the space they need to work safely and as quickly as possible, including:

  • Lougheed Highway and Springer Avenue intersection
  • Broadway, between Arden and Underhill avenues and at North Road
  • Bainbridge Avenue, between Queensbridge Drive and Broadway

A southbound lane opened on Springer Avenue between Broadway and Lougheed Highway this week; however, the northbound lane closure and work on Lougheed Highway is ongoing.
