A 19-year-old driver fleeing from police in Vancouver was arrested at gunpoint last night after he got his car wedged on a curb in Burnaby, according to police.
Vancouver police officers on patrol tried to pull over a black Honda Accord on Boundary Road by Canada Way just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, according to an emailed statement from media spokesperson Sgt. Jason Robillard.
He said it was supposed to have been a routine traffic stop for a motor vehicle offence, but the Accord did not pull over and took off towards Burnaby instead.
“Officers found the vehicle a short time later after the vehicle scraped between two stationary vehicles and became wedged on a curb at Willingdon Avenue near Canada Way,” Robillard said.
The driver, a Surrey youth, was arrested at gunpoint.
The lone occupant of the vehicle, he now faces charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation.
