Food truck festivals are a staple of summer.

Food truck festivals are still happening even during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival will be bringing in various positive food truck events in light of many other festivities being cancelled.

And one starts this Saturday in Burnaby and will continue all summer.

“We invite you to experience the new reality when it comes to food truck festivals in an innovative and creative way,” said a news release.

The first food truck takeout event will be in Burnaby’s Brentwood area at 2150 Alpha Ave., and will be run throughout the summer bi-weekly starting from June 20 to Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each event.

There will be free admission, “safe” live music, and more vendors are to come as each week progresses. The event organizers will be allowing 50 people in at a time in an open area with social distancing and guidelines implemented.

“The goal is to spread positivity and be adaptive while complying with the new health restrictions put into place,” said a news release. “The Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival wants to have a strong bond of community in Burnaby, and bring joy to individuals while experiencing the new normal of food truck festivals.”
