Two separate events have been organized for the coming weeks on a similar topic – safety in and around Burnaby Mountain. The first is on Sept. 26 and it’s been organized by the City of Burnaby.

Two separate events have been organized for the coming weeks on a similar topic – safety in and around Burnaby Mountain.

The first is on Sept. 26 and it’s been organized by the City of Burnaby. It’s a shelter-in-place information session with public safety experts from the city discussing fire protection and emergency preparedness on Burnaby Mountain, including measures the Burnaby Fire Department has in place in the event of a fire. It’s at 7 p.m. at SFU’s Blusson Hall, Room 9660, 8888 University Dr. You can RSVP via this link

The next event has a group of concerned Forest Grove residents organizing a town hall session on Oct. 2 to look at safety, relative to the expanded Trans Mountain operations in the neighbourhood. it takes place in the evening at Forest Grove Elementary.

Organizers say they expect Mayor Mike Hurley, city staff, MLA Katrina Chen and most of the federal candidates attending.There will also be questions about the propose SFU gondola as well.

“While this is being billed as a Forest Grove event, other people from the mountain area are welcome to attend,” said John Bathurst, one of the event’s organizers.
