That’s why more and more effort is being made to clear such areas as public trails – where people can come into accidental contact with - of non-native plants.

The latest effort is being made in Burnaby on June 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Glencarin Trail Entrance. Volunteers are needed to clear invasive species.

The event supplies the gloves and tools, as well as refreshments. They work in all kinds of weather, so dressed appropriately, including waterproof footwear, a long-sleeve shirt and a hat.

This event is for people ages eight years and older.
