Anti-SLAPP legislation is necessary

Dear Editor No corporation, including Kinder Morgan should be permitted to file multimillion-dollar lawsuits simply to discourage people legitimately protesting their project, and there should be a law in place to prevent that from happening.

Dear Editor

No corporation, including Kinder Morgan should be permitted to file multimillion-dollar lawsuits simply to discourage people legitimately protesting their project, and there should be a law in place to prevent that from happening.

It is quite obvious the intent of Kinder Morgan, who voluntarily dropped the suit, when they got the affect they wanted from the courts.

Unfortunately one gentleman at least, was more than $50K in the hole for legal bills, just to defend himself against the lawsuit filed by Kinder Morgan.

This gentleman has now filed a lawsuit against Kinder Morgan to recover the costs of his legal bills, and for the stress exerted on him by Kinder Morgan’s frivolous lawsuit. B.C. should have anti-SLAPP back on the books, which was on the books until the Liberals repealed it, to give an advantage to their corporate owners.
