Visions of pounding a Baja Rosa on the rocks with your clam chowder or sitting in a sweet, coin-operated massage chair with a mild Palm Bay buzz remain a foggy dream for B.C. Ferries passengers.
The long-awaited promise of alcohol sales on the high seas, sadly, is stuck in bureaucratic dry dock.
B.C. Ferries had planned to allow boozin’ with their cruisin’ this month on a trial basis — specifically in the Pacific Buffet aboard the Coastal Celebration, Spirit of British Columbia and Spirit of Vancouver Island, a.k.a. “the good ferries.”
But they’re still waiting for their liquor licence, according to media reports, with no time frame indicated by those fun-loving killjoys at the B.C. Liquor Regulation Branch.
Mind you if you’re one of those people determined to enjoy your ferry ride with a hint of Baja Rosa or Palm Bay on your chowdery breath, just make out — consensually, of course — with someone from Nanaimo. Ahoy!
