Dear Editor:
I initially sent a letter to B.C. Hydro indicating that I wanted to opt out from having a Smart Meter installed.
At 5 p.m. on Easter Sunday 2012, an electrician from B.C. Hydro appeared at my door asking for permission to install a meter and after a lengthy discussion of approximately three-quarters of an hour, he left without doing the work.
I wonder whether he was paid double overtime for working on a statutory holiday.
After that, a lady with limited knowledge about smart meters called to comfort me regarding the installation and again I emphatically said no.
Then another call from B.C. Hydro from a man and after a very brief conversation, I abruptly ended it.
In January, there was a glimmer of hope when Energy Minister Rich Coleman announced that one could refuse installation but later he reneged on that promise.
Just another example of poor decisions. On Feb. 4, I sent another registered letter to B.C. Hydro stating my desire not to have the meter installed.
And the saga continues. Alix Moski, Burnaby
