These two Burnaby restaurants with awesome patios finally reopen

While many restaurants reopened for sit-down service on June 1, as part of the province’s restart strategy, some only reopened with takeout service. And a few remained closed as plans were developed to retool.

While many restaurants reopened for sit-down service on June 1, as part of the province’s restart strategy, some only reopened with takeout service.

And a few remained closed as plans were developed to retool. Two of these restaurants in Burnaby finally reopened today (July 22) for sit-down service and just in time to take advantage of the sun on their awesome patios.

Food Burnaby, which operates 14-plus locations in the city, announced the reopening of Mulligans at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course and Riverway Restaurant.

“We’re excited to announce that Riverway Clubhouse and Burnaby Mountain Clubhouse are reopening tomorrow, July 22 in a reduced capacity while practicing physical distancing,” read a Food Burnaby tweet.

The golf courses reopened weeks ago and have seen strong traffic of golfers looking to get outside and play, although the summer weather hasn’t necessarily complied.

Food Burnaby also announced that the Riverway and Mulligans locations have new menus for diners. Executive chef Jason Mok has created new items inspired by the West Coast.

Both restaurants offer indoor service – with lovely wood-beamed designs - but when the sun is shining, the patios are preferred because of their views and tranquil settings.

One vegetarian item I spotted that looks amazing is the “forest” pasta dish, with wild mushroom, asparagus, sun-dried tomato, green pea, parmesan, truffle & mushroom tapenade cream sauce, garlic toast.

There was also a lobster burger with 3oz. Atlantic lobster tail, garlic prawns, fresh all-beef patty, lettuce, tomato, smoked cheddar, chipotle mayo.
