This crazy Burnaby ice cream shop has closed its doors. And now I'm sad

Jesus has gone back to Toronto. No, not that Jesus – I’m talking about Sweet Jesus, the Ontario dessert company that expanded into Burnaby with a shop at Metrotown mall. The local Sweet Jesus shop has shut its doors, less than a year after it opened.

I’m feeling sad today because their insane creations were something to behold (and to eat). Colourful and delightfully sweet, Sweet Jesus seemed to draw a crowd of people just looking at their creations.

I love dessert and Sweet Jesus had some incredible dishes.

The chain, which is operated by parent restaurant group Monarchs & Misfits, has been steadily expanding in and out of Toronto.

Known for their irreverent style (the name has been hard for some to swallow) as much as their outrageous ice cream treats, the soft serve shop is a beloved spot for treat-seekers and Instagrammers.

But not for Burnaby, I guess.

I’m a little surprised because their colourful offerings seem tailor-made for success here.
