Burnaby resident Mark Angelo is a legend when it comes to stream protection.

As the founder of World Rivers Day, Angelo fights to protect our waterways.

Now he’s starring in a video talking about the value of our urban streams and the need to restore and protect them.

People often don’t see the many creeks, streams and rivers that flow through Burnaby, feeding into lakes and even bigger rivers. They provide a home for fish and wildlife, but are constantly under threat in an urban setting.

That is the message of the "Waterways in Our Communities" theme for this year‘s World Rivers Day set for Sept. 22.
