OK, Burnaby drivers, this is the big one.

The FortisBC project has been slowly moving its way east along Broadway, a relatively busy road that many commuters use during rush hours to avoid Highway 1, Lougheed and Hastings.

But now the gas line upgrading has set to start on Gaglardi Way this coming Wednesday, May 29.

“This will mean lane closures near the intersections of Gaglardi Way and Broadway, to give our crews the space they need to work safely, and as quickly as possible,” said a news release.
One northbound lane and one southbound lane will be kept open throughout construction.
There will also be some periodic lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the area starting Monday, May 27, as crews prepare for construction.
“We expect to finish work on this section in late June,” said the news release.

Gaglardi at Broadway is insanely busy during the week so expect this one to be messy. You should probably avoid it.

Broadway is now closed in two sections in Burnaby for construction: Duthie Avenue to Phillips Place, and Arden Avenue to Underhill Avenue. Access is being maintained for local homes and emergency services only. Work in these sections is expected to finish in late June.
