Jagmeet Singh is campaigning today with the guy who bailed on Burnaby South voters

The Burnaby South federal byelection campaign continues today with what I consider an odd decision by the federal NDP.

Jagmeet Singh – in the political fight of his life – will be campaigning with none other than Kennedy Stewart – the former Burnaby South Member of Parliament who quit on his constituents mid-term to run and become mayor of Vancouver. The two will be “mainstreeting” today at 2:45 p.m. outside of the Royal Oak SkyTrain station.

I frankly find it galling for any politician to align themselves with someone who couldn’t keep his commitment to Burnaby South voters.

Too many politicians don’t take that commitment seriously, quitting for their own craven self-interests. Christy Clark quit on Kelowna voters when she couldn’t be premier anymore. Stephen Harper took his shovel and pail and left the political sandbox.

All of these selfish politicians stick it to taxpayers because when they quit their seats, costly byelections need to be held – like what’s going on right now.

I can’t belief Stewart will even show his face around his old riding.

I hope people give Stewart an earful. He deserves it.
