Opinion: Burnaby tow truck drivers went absolutely wild last weekend

I know nobody likes a tow truck driver as they roll away with your vehicle, either because you parked incorrectly or it broke down. Or because you were driving like a maniac and got nailed by the police.

I know nobody likes a tow truck driver as they roll away with your vehicle, either because you parked incorrectly or it broke down.

Or because you were driving like a maniac and got nailed by the police.

But let us show some love for tow truck drivers helping people out when their vehicles break down and also helping punish bad drivers as they tow these speedy vehicles to the impound lot.

It’s that last one that happened on the weekend in Burnaby and tow truck drivers went absolutely wild trying to keep up with all of the excessive speeders nailed by Burnaby RCMP.

According to police, traffic enforcement officers caught 30 excessive speeders, who were then ticketed, with many having their vehicles impounded.

One of these bozos was caught doing 122 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

That’s nuts. That’s terrible.

This follows the Burnaby RCMP spending a few hours on a recent Saturday doing traffic enforcement at playground and school zones around the city.

In a short time, police nailed 55 speeding drivers, including three for excessive speeding. That means those three drivers had their vehicles impounded and received a minimum $368 ticket.

Hope it was worth it.

I thought people not wearing masks were the biggest threat right now, but add to that list reckless driving trying to take advantage of lighter pandemic traffic.
