Opinion: Pandemic can’t stop Burnaby dumpers from still being awful people

COVID-19 has turned many parts of Burnaby into mini-ghost towns. That means an opportunity for some truly terrible people to do bad things without many prying eyes around. Like vandalism. Also, dumping.

COVID-19 has turned many parts of Burnaby into mini-ghost towns.

That means an opportunity for some truly terrible people to do bad things without many prying eyes around.

Like vandalism.

Also, dumping. So many parts of our community are more vulnerable now than ever because, well, who is going to witness it?

Case in point, a dumper who literally pooped all over a small part of North Burnaby. A reader sent in the above photo of a bunch of dog poop bags all filled up with dog excrement.

It’s enraging because this person obviously took the time to bag up all of the poop, but then decided to just dump all of them next to Kensington Golf Course.

Yeah, sure, it’s probably a little thing, but that’s what makes it so frustrating. There are lots of garbage cans in that area because it’s part of a park/school area.

Just take a few more damn steps and find a trash can to put them in. Imagine the sociopathic brain it took to say, “No, I’m just going to toss them right here next to this tree.”

And who compiles this many full poop bags all at once? A doggy daycare? A dog walker? Cruella de Vil?

I really was hopeful that the COVID-19 pandemic would keep even terrible people stuck in their homes.
