Fresh off impounding 16 vehicles because they were literally too dangerous to drive, Burnaby RCMP’s traffic enforcement unit stopped what could be the worst truck ever.

Police stopped this truck on a Burnaby road and found a whopping eight separate violations.

They included an unsecured load of dangerous goods, unsecure cargo and a compromised front tire.

In all, the driver was given violation tickets that added up to $1,420 and the vehicle was impounded.

Yikes. Talk about reckless. But it’s par for the course when it comes to commercial vehicles.

Last week, in just three days, Burnaby traffic officers inspected 24 vehicles.

Out of those 24 commercial vehicles, they found a whopping 61 violations and impounded 16 of the vehicles.

That’s way more than half of the vehicles inspected were found to be unsafe to be on Burnaby roads.

Const. Kevin Connolly told the NOW last year that commercial vehicles often fail their inspections.

“Commercial vehicles are one of the highest-violating types that are on the road,” said Connolly, who works in the Burnaby RCMP’s traffic enforcement unit. “When you consider how big commercial vehicles are and the potential for damage, it’s concerning.”
