'Pollen bomb' hits Burnaby and it's something to sneeze at

People are suffering right now.

Not me, thankfully, because I somehow grew out of all of my allergies, but so many people around me have been hit by hay fever with the arrival of a wave of pollen.

Burnaby resident John Preissl sent me some photos he snapped of a phenomenon called a “pollen bomb” that swarmed through the wilds of Deer Lake this week.

It looks really scary as the pollen envelopes the trees. I did some research and found some pretty scary videos of pollen bombs. They usually happen after a long stretch of winter weather followed by a sudden burst of hot spring weather – exactly what we had this week.

Poor Preissl suffered to get that photo.

“My eyes were itchy all night last night,” he said.

To all hay fever sufferers – I salute you.
