It’s been a while since somebody hit a jackpot.

Maybe that’s why the BC Lottery Corporation just sent out a news release touting a “record-breaking jackpot,” which is only happening because people haven’t been winning.

“For the first time ever, $65 million is up for grabs in this Tuesday’s Lotto Max draw, and someone in B.C. could claim the historic prize,” said a news release. “In addition, there are an estimated 10 Maxmillion prizes being offered, making it a total of $75 million in prizes available for tomorrow night’s draw.”

A second Lotto Max draw was added recently on Tuesdays, but so far, it’s just offered more chances to lose.

“In May, Canadians who play the nation’s biggest lottery game saw significant changes with the introduction of a brand-new Tuesday draw, allowing jackpots to grow more quickly than ever. In addition, the main Lotto Max jackpot limit increased to $70 million, a jackpot offering never before seen in Canada.”

But big jackpots mean nothing is people are winning them, so be cautious about spending money on Lotto Max twice a week.
