This iconic Burnaby restaurant is being sold off piece by piece

When I first wrote about the closing of Horizons Restaurant after 34 years, I received an outpouring of emotions from readers. One person said that Horizons, located on Burnaby Mountain, was where she had her wedding reception.

When I first wrote about the closing of Horizons Restaurant after 34 years, I received an outpouring of emotions from readers.

One person said that Horizons, located on Burnaby Mountain, was where she had her wedding reception.

“I’m going to make sure I eat there one more time before it’s gone,” read the email.

I was a little shocked. I knew it was iconic, but didn’t quite realized just how deep the roots were. More than 25,000 people read my story about the closure.

Now you can own a piece of this history because an auction is set for March 21.

SUBMITTED

Love’s Auctioneers has been tasked with selling the complete contents of Horizons, right down to the last spoon, fork and napkin.

Viewing is on March 20 and the auction is at 11 a.m. at 100 Centennial Way in Burnaby.

It’s a sad thing seeing so much history ending. The City of Burnaby hasn’t said yet what is next for the site. I’m assuming a search is on for a new tenant willing to pay a high price for such a magnificent views.
