Break down of gas prices, province by province

This graphic goes with the story I posted on gas prices and why they're not dropping as much as crude prices. The provincial taxes on gas are 32.2 cents on the litre, the highest in the country, and the federal tax is 15.9, also the highest.

The provincial taxes on gas are 32.2 cents on the litre, the highest in the country, and the federal tax is 15.9, also the highest. But the retail costs are also comparatively high, third highest in fact. So the argument that our gas prices are high because our taxes are high is only true to a certain extent. Retail costs are also higher than average. And when crude costs are low, retailers make up for their losses in oil production at the pump.
